Liero3D - Lasers!

Liero3D now features laser weapons! The above image shows me making a sweeping motion along a dirt hill. I currently only have the classic red beam, but any colour, width and length is possible.

NovelStatsTracker v0.4

The NovelStatsTracker version 0.4 is out, and now features an export to .CSV option. This allows you to export your progress and load it into Excel or other spreadsheet software.
Besides this, I did some internal reorganisation and fixes some small bugs.

NovelStatsTracker v0.3

The NovelStatsTracker is an application that keeps track of your progress on a writing project. Its idea is based on the NaNoWriMo website, but it can be used for any writing project, anytime.
Multiple projects can be created and managed, and a graph shows a visual representation of a project's progress and goal.

Welcome to Zarlin's Stack

Here I will stack my ideas, and game/software project updates.
I'll start populating the blog with some past updates to give it an initial fill-up and a general idea of the blog's theme.

Liero3D - Particles, new weapons

I added particles to the Liero3D game. Dirt spects will fall off destroyed voxels and weapons spawn smoke and fiery explosions.
New weapons have been added, with different sprite graphics for each weapon. Liero fans will recognise the following weapons:
  • Gauss Gun
  • Bazooka
  • Big Nuke
  • Chiquita Bomb
  • Dirt Ball

This version also shows the new open level type, which no longer has the arena box around the level. This means weapon knockback can actually blast you or your opponent off the level. If you do, you'll fall until a certain point where you'll be teleported back to above the level. This way you'll never die from falling, and it's a nice trick to ambush your opponent.

Liero3D - Combat

Liero3D (working title) is a 3D voxel game I am working on, inspired by the realtime artillery game Liero.
Liero3D uses a fully destructable voxel terrain to simulate an undergound world, where two or more worms battle to death with a variety of weapons. The game features full 3D movement, ninja rope action and LAN multiplayer.
Liero3D is created in my own homebrew engine written in C++ and using OpenGL for rendering. The game is still very much a work in progress, and new features are constantly being added.

FallOff 5 - Gameplay

A 3D Puzzle platform game written in C++, using OpenGL for rendering. FallOff 5 is the first game  built using my own homebrew game engine and features collision detection, pathfinding and basic AI. The engine was built along with the game, so the features were still rather limited.

In FallOff 5 you play as a snowman who got stuck in an active volcano. Your only chance for survival is to make it to the top to escape. However, the path to the top is difficult, and riddled with obstacles. Luckily, tools are scattered throughout the levels which enable you to bypass these obstacles, if you know how to use them. Watch out though, because lava monsters are lurking about, ready to push you into the boiling lava. Use the level against them to proceed through the level.
And most importantly: don't fall off...
